QB Jeff Driskel remains committed to Gators

Though Florida Gators fans were concerned with who would replace head coach Urban Meyer after he resigned on Wednesday, they seemed equally worried about the commitment status of five/four-star quarterback Jeff Driskel (Oviedo, FL).

Worry no more.

Driskel, who appeared perfectly suited to run Florida’s offense under Meyer, was faced with an important decision: remain committed to the Gators and enroll early or open up his recruitment and begin taking visits.

He’s sticking with the orange and blue.

“He’s fully committed,” his mother Mary Driskel told Jason Lieser of the Palm Beach Post on Sunday. “He got his classes set up. He’s on his way. […] Florida’s Florida. It’s a good school and it’s a good environment. Jeff’s really happy up there. We knew they were going to hire a good coach.”

That new head coach is Will Muschamp; Driskel spoke with him while in Gainesville, FL, taking an official visit to the University of Florida this weekend.

“Sounds like a high-energy guy,” Mary Driskel told the Post. “[Muschamp] was really excited to come to Florida and really excited that Jeff is committed to Florida.”

Yaahooo! That is what I like to hear! I bet by tonight Muschamp will have called every one of our committed recruits and most of the prospects that are on the hot list to gain committments before the dead period. This is what we needed!! Go Gators!!

I get the feeling that this guy will rally the recruits and bring in a top 5 class. Hopefully he can bring some of the 5 star defensive guys from Texas along. Just concerned about the OC position. Not a fan of the MA scenario.

  7. Drew 4 Orange & Blue says:

I hear Mike Leach is looking for work!!

  8. Wingtee says:

I hear Leach has a lawsuit with ESPN. We hire him and if u think Florida has a media issue now ????? They would crush us

  9. npgator says:

Muschamp is an awesome recruiter and I expect a top 10 or maybe top5 class this year.

  10. Drew 4 Orange & Blue says:

Just shatter my dreams why don’t you!!!!

  11. Matt says:

Florida has a media issue???? HA, HA, HA, HA…….. Wow, now I’ve heard it all. If by “media issue” you mean Florida can do no wrong and everything bad that happens to them is by design and no matter who the team loses everyone in the media still says Florida is the greatest thing ever, then yeah I get your point. Seriously, this team went 7-5 and was ranked #5 or something coming into the year even with all the player and coaching losses. There are even articles today around the nation talking about UF being the pick for SEC East and SEC Champion for 2011. I know most Gator fans are delusional about the team’s ability, but the media??? It must suck for everyone to carry on and on about what a great team Florida has (whether they go undefeated, oh right that’s never happened, or 7-5) and have to hear about how Florida is the best job in football, etc, etc. etc…..

    I detect a hint of jealousy….

  13. Tenn Todd says:

I live in tennessee. Are there any local radio stations I could listen to online for gator sports talk.

  14. G8trpls says:

    850 am Gainesville

  15. Mr2Bits says:

620 wdae streams online and they broadcast all Gator games. Mainly Buc talk during the week though.

  16. Matt says:

Hey E-Pain, its not jealousy its just the truth. Its one thing for the national media to gush of everything UF all day, everyday, no matter what the actual topic is. That’s bad enough….but then to have to listen to Gator fans bitch about there being a “media issue” as if Florida gets the short end of the stick is just plain absurd. Just check out Tony Barnhart’s column today and you’ll see it, or look back to this pre-season….UF lost half or more of its Defense, its best offensive playmakers, and everyone’s hero-Tim Tebow, yet somehow UF is ranked in the Top 10 pre-season along with plenty of other equally ridiculous predictions like SEC and National Championships. How about ESPN repeatedly telling everyone last year about how John Brantley was the 5th or 6th best QB in the SEC…as Tebow’s back-up? BTW, how has that worked out for ya so far? ESPN is basically the marketing arm of UF and to hear Gator fans even hint that the media has it out for UF is laughable at best and completely delusional in all reality.

  17. Tampa Tom says:

Hey Door MATT, you must be upset that we walk all over your team. hope you enjoyed the smelly dog crap we left all your face. you suck!

  18. Ken says:

Apperently the Gators are important enough for you to come trolling on a website dedicated to Gator news…

  19. Gatorbuc15 says:

    Go away Matt (TROLL)

  20. Daniel M. says:

Surely you can dig up a better picture of Driskel Adam?

  21. Goldeneaglejav says:

First off Matt, You are an idiot. Noone here said that there was a “media issue”. It was said that if we hired Leach there would be a media issue. I do not think we are interested in a washed up Big12 QB beater. As for the Brantley comments, if you do not think he is one of the top 5 QB in the SEC you can just go ahead and stop watching college football. Brantley doesn’t fit into our system, no, but he is a top 5 QB. if he was playing at Georgia, or Tennessee, even Alabama or LSU he would be a dominant QB. And WE are a marketing arm? Then how come ever word out of Mark May’s mouth is Florida isn’t this good or Florida is not gonna win 7 games this season, or Tebow didn’t deserve the Heisman. Do everyone a favor and leave this message board for true Florida fans and go back to you teams terrible sites.
