Gators LB Antonio Morrison (torn meniscus) is seventh Florida starter out for season

There appears to be no stopping the injury bug that has depleted the Florida Gators‘ depth chart in 2013. Head coach Will Muschamp announced Monday that the team has lost its seventh starter – and 10th overall player – for the season as sophomore linebacker Antonio Morrison tore his meniscus on Saturday.

It has been a rough year for Morrison, who was arrested twice during the offseason (he was cleared of the second offense – harassing a police animal) and subsequently suspended for Florida’s season opener against Toledo.

He has also struggled mightily on the field in 2013, often missing tackles or failing to make the correct defensive plays.

Redshirt junior Michael Taylor will replace Morrison with freshman Jarrad Davis moving into Taylor’s starting role at Will linebacker.

Morrison joins junior quarterback Jeff Driskel, senior defensive tackle Dominique Easley, sophomore running back Matt Jones, redshirt senior wide receiver/kick returner Andre Debose and offensive tackles redshirt junior Chaz Green and redshirt sophomore Tyler Moore as Florida starters lost for the season.

The Gators have lost 10 total players for the season including a trio of reserves – redshirt freshman linebacker Jeremi Powell, freshman LB Matt Rolin and freshman defensive back Nick Washington.

Well, at least we only have 3 more games left. Letting the guys recovery process start after FSU should be a big help heading into the spring.

  2. Michael Jones says:

Let’s go, coach. Man down, man up, right? That’s why you recruit. Let’s finish strong with the kids we have left.

Tough year. Never saw this coming. Any of it.

Is Muschamp practicing our guys too hard or what ? Have the players just quit ? Something has to be going on that is not good behind closed doors. I mean 7 starters out for the season. And they all seem to get hurt while at practice and not in the games. Just down right atrocious season..
