As they are wont to do, betting sites have started releasing odds on the Florida Gators’ coaching search.
Without further ado, here is where they stand (via BetOnline.ag) upon opening on Tuesday, Oct. 31 (in parenthesis) and one day later on Nov. 1.
Scott Frost -130 (+700)
Dan Mullen +450 (+350)
Mike Norvell +800 (+700)
Chip Kelly +1000
Dino Babers +1000 (+800)
Bob Stoops +1400 (+800)
Matt Campbell +1800 (+800)
Jeff Brohm +1800 (+800)
Chad Morris +1800 (+800)
Randy Shannon +1800 (+1400)
Willie Taggart +2000 (+900)
Mike Gundy +2000 (+1400)
Lane Kiffin +2000 (+5000)
Charlie Strong +2500 (+2000)
Urban Meyer +20000
Steve Spurrier +20000
Tim Tebow +30000
The suggestions below were based off the initial odds.
In terms of best bets, Campbell (+800) and Taggart (+900) offer tremendous value. There’s really no good reason not to put a couple bucks on Spurrier (+20000) — because you never know — but that’s probably where the value stops.
Norvell at (+700) and Stoops (+800) are the worst values by far, whereas Mullen (+350) does not provide the risk-reward to make it worth putting any money down on him.
The most shocking coach left off this list is Virginia Tech’s Justin Fuente, who should absolutely be a legitimate candidate for the Florida opening.
