Florida Gators head basketball coach Mike White won’t be going anywhere in the foreseeable future. Entering his fifth season leading the program, White has signed a two-year contract extension with Florida that will pay him an average salary of $3 million over the remainder of his deal.

White’s total compensation will see increases from $2.8 million this season to $3.2 million by the 2022-23 season and onward, according to his new contract, which was released by the University Athletic Association following a public records request.

If Florida were to fire White, it would owe him $1.75 million for each season remaining on his contract on that time. However, if White were to leave the Gators on his own volition, he would owe the team $250,000 per year left on his deal.

White currently earns $1.2 million for TV, radio and public relations appearances but will receive a modest $50,000 bump each of the next two seasons, followed by a $25,000 increase, putting him at $1.3 million during his final three years of the deal. His longevity bonuses also increase $75,000 in 2020-21 and $100,000 each of the next two seasons during the final three years of his new contract.

White is 89-53 at UF in four seasons and has coached the Gators to three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a trip to the Elite Eight in 2016-17.

This year’s team, comprised of stellar sophomores and a highly-acclaimed true freshman class, is expected to sit in top 10 of the preseason AP Top 25 college basketball rankings when they are released later this fall.
