Notes

» Morrison is listed as the starter … becuase he’s starting after a miraculous six-month recovery from an injury that supposedly required 10-12 months of rehabilitation.

» Though there are already seven freshmen listed on the depth chart, McElwain expects to use many more in games this season. As such, McElwain is not promising redshirts for any first-year players. “There’s no one that’s guaranteed a redshirt because you just never know as you go forward. There will be a lot more [freshmen] that will show up in the game day statistics than the seven that are listed there,” he said Monday.

» McElwain expects the Gators to play up to nine receivers, even though only six are listed on the depth chart.

» Though he would not reveal whether Ivey would have been listed as starting left tackle had he been healthy, McElwian noted Monday that he’s pleased with Ivey’s play and sees him playing a big role as soon as he can get back on the field.

» Three suspended players – redshirt junior defensive end Alex McCalister, redshirt junior defensive back Marcus Maye and senior wide receiver Latroy Pittman Jr. – are not listed on the depth chart. McAlister will likely start at defensive end with Bullard moving inside to defensive tackle. Pittman’s role on offense is yet to be determined, and Maye will certainly factor in somewhere in the secondary depth chart.

If this is indeed for game 1, why are Ivey and Morrison listed?

    Antonio is playing??? That’s awesome!

    Ivey is already back?

  4. Ryan D. says:

“Look, we’re going to play a lot of guys, don’t read too much into the depth chart.” -Coach Mc
I believe that he was to see how the team approaches the game and how well they perform. Should be a rotating lineup each week and I’m sure will depend on the opponent as well.

I hate to nitpick since it is very early but man what kind of depth chart is this full of errors????????
Martez Ivey is hurt and not playing so how can he listed as the #2 LT
I thought Khahiri Clark had transfered, why is he listed as the #2 NT
The best one has to be Antonio Morrison listed as the starter at Mike when we all know he is not playing and there is a chance he will not come back all season
To top it off, Anzalone is Morrison’s backup at Mike but also the starter at Sam
Now I like Anzalone a lot but I don’t think he can play two different LB positions at the same time
    Come on man

  6. INGATORSWETRUST says:

Playing Morrison is a mistake. The ability to play in game one may be there, but any ACL/MCL type tear is 75% from a strength perspective at this time. Patients that rush back to play tennis or any type of sport early are at greater risk of re-injury. Your mind thinks you can play, your body may feel strong, but you lack the strength and mobility you think you have for 12+ months after the injury.

What will depth chart look like when suspended players return?

    • HeadOfficial says:

Morrison isn’t playing just because he told the coach “I think I’m ready!”

UF has some the premier orthopedic specialists in the world. I’m sure they’ve tested and retested the stability of Morrison’s knees and are confident he has done the proper rehabilitation to ensure minimal damage in a football game.
