Unrated 2016 cornerback Christopher “C.J.” McWilliams (Miami, FL) verbally committed to the Florida Gators on Sunday, the player told OnlyGators.com.
McWilliams (5-foot-11, 160 pounds) received a scholarship offer from the Gators on Friday and jumped on the opportunity, as first reported by Luke Stampini of 247Sports.
A player at Southwest Miami High School, he was recruited by Florida co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Randy Shannon and chose UF over FAU, his only other offer.
McWilliams, a relatively unknown prospect, is the Gators’ ninth commitment for 2016. He joins CB Chauncey Gardner (Cocoa, FL), Florida’s only four-star pledge, in the class.
Update: McWilliams’ rating was updated following publication of this story. He is now listed as a three-star on the 247 Sports Composite ranking system.
