Offensive tackle Chaz Green and running back Matt Jones represented the Florida Gators during day two of the 2015 NFL Draft on Friday, going off the board four picks apart late in the third round to the Dallas Cowboys and Washington.

Round 3 – No. 91
Chaz Green, OL
Dallas Cowboys

Height: 6’5″ – Weight: 314 lbs.
Age: 23 – Class: Redshirt senior

Green, the first Gators player drafted by the Cowboys since 1994 (Willie Jackson), was OnlyGators.com‘s featured Path to the Draft blogger throughout the process.

He displayed top-notch footwork while at Florida, proved to be good in pass protection and convinced teams that prior injuries were not going to be an issue for him entering the draft. Possessing a high football IQ, great demeanor and solid character, Green was able to play both sides of the line for the Gators and was selected near the top of his draft ceiling at No. 91 overall on Friday.

“It’s a dream come true I’m really grateful for this opportunity,” Green told the team for it’s release on Friday. “I can’t wait to get out there. This is the best offensive line last season. To be able to come in and get around those guys and that culture, it’s exciting. I can’t wait to get to work.”

Green will join defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey on the Dallas roster and is the 14th Florida player ever selected by the franchise.

Round 3 – No. 95
Matt Jones, RB
Washington

Height: 6’2″ – Weight: 231 lbs.
Age: 22 – Class: Redshirt junior

Jones, the 95th overall pick by Washington, was not expected to be drafted before day three. Nevertheless, he brings plenty to the table for the team with size, strength and some quickness for his body type. The type of player who can be used on short-yardage and goal line packages as his floor in the NFL, Jones also has soft hands and also does a solid job in pass protection.

Injuries were also a concern for Jones but obviously Washington felt it could overlook those issues.

Jones is the eighth former Florida player selected by the Washington football franchise and joins former Gators tight end Jordan Reed and OT Xavier Nixon on the team’s roster. He is also the highest-selected UF rusher since 1998 (Fred Taylor).

It is the second time in three seasons that Florida has seen four players selected in the first three rounds of the draft. During the first round on Thursday, defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. went No. 3 overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars and OT D.J. Humphries was selected with the 24th pick by the Arizona Cardinals.
