Florida Gators redshirt freshman defensive lineman Gary Brown was arrested early Sunday morning on two counts of misdemeanor battery, according to The Gainesville Sun.
Slated to be a solid contributor for the Gators in 2010, Brown is alleged to have slapped one woman in the face and scratched another’s arms after a disagreement began when he refused to leave a Gainesville, FL, party late Saturday night. Each charge is officially described by the police report as “battery: touch or strike.” Neither victim needed medical attention.
A former five-star recruit, Brown, 19, was booked into Alachua County jail at 7:49 a.m. Sunday morning after the two victims pressed charges. He remains unsentenced but has officially been suspended from all team activities.
The Palm Beach Post reports that the police first responded when Theodore Davis, a friend of Brown’s, pulled a fire alarm, shattered glass to remove a fire extinguisher and sprayed said extinguisher on those at the party.
UPDATE: Brown was released from jail Monday morning on his own recognizance.
OGGOA will update this story as more information is made available. Should he be found guilty, we do not expect Brown to remain a member of the team.
More fuel for all the haters!!!
He broke a team core value – he won’t be back with the team.
Here we go. Glad to see we couldn’t make it two months let alone one semester without another football player getting arrested. WTF is wrong with these morons.
Great
Stay classy Gunsville
Based on that picture, I wouldn’t want to run into him in a dark alley.
And they wonder why Urban has heart issues?
These kids need to GROW-UP!!!
I guess Omar hunter and shariff will be getting plenty and playing time this season
Bye bye Brown we never even got to know you and now it is time to move on.
He was lazy, came in over weight, and has not put forth the effort.
Boot him. This is unacceptable.
Another defensive tackle that never panned out for the Gators, Torrey Davis, John Brown and now Gary Brown.
Everyone needs to chill out a little. Hes not going to get kicked off the team as this was a misdemeanor, not a felony. He will need to do community service, small fine maybe and will miss 1-3 games this year.
Outside of that, these ass-wipes are really starting to piss me off.
We have more blckeyes than FSu and Um combined . This is another embarassment. You don’t hear about the top 1% of the 1% anymore
Wouldn’t you know, something negative happens involving UF football and trolls like this “Gunsville” moron come out of the woodwork.
P town so u really expect our rivals to keep quiet abotput these kind of issues. Last I checked when other schools have their issues we pounce on them unmercifly. Don’t blame the hatred , look inside our program to see what we are recruiting. This is happening way to often, and like
you saidbreakimg the “core value thing”
