The Florida Gators landed their top recruiting target on National Signing Day with five-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey (Apopka, FL) officially announcing his decision to stay in-state and play at Florida over Auburn.

A long-time Florida lean, Ivey (6-foot-6, 275 pounds) is the rated as the No. 2 overall player and No. 1 offensive tackle by the 247Sports Composite.

He has been heavily pursued by the Gators throughout his high school career and was planning to attend Florida until Will Muschamp was fired. Suddenly his recruitment was thrown a bit into flux, but new head coach Jim McElwain retaining offensive line coach Mike Summers helped Ivey remain comfortable with the Gators.

McElwain, Summers and defensive backs coach Kirk Callahan continued pressing Ivey through the last week, ensuring that he understood how bad Florida, which has just seven scholarship offensive linemen returning for 2015, needed his services.

Out of Apopka High School, Ivey is the 16th member of Florida’s 2015 recruiting class and fifth offensive lineman to make his pledge this cycle.
