Vols hire Dooley, video of alleged armed robbery

Numerous sources are reporting that the University of Tennessee has hired Louisiana Tech BulldogsDerek Dooley as the Tennessee Volunteers‘ new head football coach. Dooley has led Louisiana Tech since 2007, finishing two of his three seasons with losing records (5-7, 8-5, 4-8) and only bringing the Bulldogs to one postseason appearance – the 2008 Independence Bowl.

To celebrate the occasion (actually, the timing is just a coincidence), OGGOA has uncovered a video of the alleged armed robbery attempted by freshmen safety Janzen Jackson and former players wide receiver Nu’Keese Richardson and cornerback Mike Edwards on Nov. 12, 2009, outside a Pilot gas station in Knoxville, TN. Richardson and Edwards have since been dismissed from the team while Jackson, the most talented of the three players, remains a member of the team.

I wonder what the UGA fans will think about Vince Dooley’s son taking over at Tennessee. One interesting point in his resume was being Saban’s recruiting coordinator at LSU. I think this is a better hire than Cutliffe but it should be interesting to see what Tennessee fans say.

Wow, sad day when USF bulls a bigger coach than the night Vols…what a fall from grace that hillbilly program has become.

Who did the robbing in the video, th white or the green car?

  3. ESPN could not change their story more often if they tried. Now it appears Sumlin may be in the running for the job as well. May have jumped too soon on this; then again, five outlets reporting it as fact would make one do that.

Agreed, everything I have seen has had quotes from La Tech boosters and staff saying that Dooley is gone. Then again, I think most of us thought Del Rio to USC was a lock.
