1 » Early Friday morning, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow sat down with Hannah Storm for another interview, this one mostly about the 2011 season. Though the below video is only a clip of the interview, it will be aired in full on ESPN‘s SportsCenter on Friday. If/when the network makes it available online, OGGOA will update this thread with a video of the complete interview.

Click to expand and read three more BITS in this post.

2 » Former Florida Gators linebacker Brandon Hicks has agreed to a futures contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers for the 2012 season. His former Florida teammate and current Pittsburgh tackle Marcus Gilbert confirmed the signing to OGGOA on Friday via Twitter. An undrafted free agent in 2011, Hicks was signed by the Buffalo Bills in the lockout-shortened offseason but was waived during final cuts and did not make his way onto a NFL roster. He is the second former Gators star to sign a futures contract since the end of the regular season as tight end Cornelius Ingram, who spent time on Denver’s practice squad toward the end of the year, agreed to remain with the Broncos.

3 » Florida women’s basketball (14-8, 4-5 SEC) picked up a big win on Thursday, defeating the LSU Tigers (14-8, 4-5 SEC) 73-64 on the road at the Maravich Assembly Center. It was the Gators’ first victory in Baton Rouge, LA since 1996 and marked a pleasant end to a three-game road stand in which Florida fell just barely to No. 6 Kentucky (57-52) and Arkansas (73-72 in overtime). Senior center Azania Stewart led the way for the Gators with a double-double of 12 points and 10 rebounds, and both redshirt senior forward Ndidi Madu and senior guard Lanita Bartley also added 12 points in the winning effort. Florida will look to capitalize on their positive momentum with consecutive home games against Ole Miss and Auburn next week.

4 » Gators senior punter David Lerner has been nominated for the 2012 Rare Disease Champion Award presented by Uplifting Athletes to “a leader in college football, individual or organization, who has realized his or her potential to make a positive and lasting impact on the rare disease community.” Lerner, who learned in the offseason that he had Chron’s disease, was knocked back by the illness but able to overcome it and wound up starting for Florida at the beginning of the season. Also in contention for the honor are Nebraska’s Rex Burkhead, N.C. State’s Wayne Crawford and UCLA’s Luke Gane, all of whom you can read about by clicking here.

1 » Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow may have been eliminated from the NFL Playoffs on Saturday, but CBS would like to keep him around for a while. According to USA Today, which spoke with CBS Sports chairman Sean McManus, the network has reached out to Tebow to sit in as a guest analyst for the studio show the way Detroit defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh did last week. There has not been a public response from the Tebow camp as of press time.

2 » ESPN recently spoke with former players who were once coached by new Florida Gators offensive coordinator Brent Pease and asked each what one should expect from him as a coach. Former Kentucky wide receiver Derek Abney classified Pease as someone who coaches “through discipline and assertiveness” but noted that his team was winning thanks in part to his methods. He also noted that Pease “didn’t make you fit into his scheme. He recognized your strengths and played to them and avoided weaknesses,” something that should undoubtedly have Gators fans smiling considering the offense is still on its way to becoming a complete pro-style team.

3 » A pair of Gators tennis players won consolation singles titles in separate events over the weekend. Junior Caroline Hitimana captured a victory at the 2012 Freeman Memorial Championships over Duke’s Ester Goldfeld, while sophomore Michael Alford came away a winner at the 2012 SEC Coaches’ Indoor Championships by taking down both Kentucky’s Ryuji Hirooka and South Carolina’s Kyle Koch. The women’s and men’s tennis programs enter the 2012 regular season ranked No. 1 and No. 8, respectively, despite the men’s team losing 2011 No. 6 Alexandre Lacroix and the No. 17 team of Lacroix and Sekou Bangoura, Jr. from a year ago.

4 » The Late Night with Jimmy Fallon show on NBC is running a new sponsored segment called Subway Subs Across America in which viewers are able to send in homemade videos of them catching and throwing a sub sandwich in and out of a scene. The latest one Fallon and his producers chose was aired Monday and came from Gainesville, FL in which a woman stood on the stands inside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and went “Tebowing” after throwing the sub out of the screen. You can check it out below.

5 » Still trying to improve under head coach Amanda Butler, the Florida women’s basketball team broke a two-game losing skid by snapping a 10-game winning streak by the LSU Tigers, defeating their opponent 62-58 on Sunday at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center. Redshirt senior guard Jordan Jones led the way for the Gators with 16 points (including 11 in the second half) and was the only player on the team to hit more than three shots on the afternoon. Florida, now 12-6 with a 2-3 mark in SEC competition, will take on Alabama at home on Thursday before playing three-straight games on the road heading into the month of February.

6 » Florida senior thrower Kemal Mesic set a new school record over the weekend by hitting a long of 19.95m/65-05.50 in the shot put at the 2012 Alabama Invitational.

EXTRA BIT » Former Gators primary cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Todd Morgan has accepted the head women’s cross country coach and assistant track and field coach job with Virginia, the school announced last Thursday. Morgan, who spent five years in Gainesville, helped lead Florida’s women’s cross country teams to consecutive SEC Championships (2009-10).[/EXPAND]

1 » Though it has been airing all season on FOX Sports Florida, a new commercial featuring Florida Gators head basketball coach Billy Donovan may have eluded some of you unable to view the game. In the spot, Donovan is doing a mock press conference praising the different offerings from Florida Gulf Seafood. It’s well-worth a view.

2 » No. 17 Florida volleyball (24-5) was selected to be a participant in the 2011 NCAA Tournament when the seedings were announced Sunday. UF will take on Missouri in the tournament’s first round on Dec. 2 in Cedar Falls, IA, marking the 21st consecutive year that the Gators have earned their way into the championship event. Florida will enter the NCAA Tournament on a seven-match winning streak including five sweeps.

3 » Former Gators head coach Ron Zook, who has led the Illinois Illini for the last seven years, was fired by his employer on Sunday after his team lost six-straight games to close the 2011 season. Illinois’ epic collapse came after the Illini began the year 6-0 and Zook looked poised to return his team to heights it had last reached during the 2007-08 season. Illinois finished under .500 in five of Zook’s seven seasons at the helm; he left the Illini with a 34-51 record but will receive a $2.6 million buyout for his services.

4 » Gators women’s basketball (5-1) captured its fifth-straight victory on Saturday after defeating the La Salle Explorers and Charlotte 49ers in consecutive days at the Courtyard LaGuardia Turkey Classic in Brooklyn, NY. Florida topped La Salle 85-74 on Friday behind a career-high 28 points from redshirt senior guard Jordan Jones, who hit 9-of-18 shots, 6-of-12 attempts from downtown and all four of her free throws. Junior forward Jennifer George added a double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds while shooting 80 percent from the field. UF kept their momentum going Saturday with a 82-73 victory over Charlotte including a 48-point second half. Senior G Lanita Bartley scored a career-high 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting with seven boards, while George came close to her third-straight double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Florida will take on Belmont at home on Tuesday before beginning a three-game road trip.

2 » Former Gators offensive tackle Phil Trautwein has spent time with a few NFL teams in his short career but has been a free agent most of the 2011 season. According to The Gainesville Sun’s Pat Dooley, Trautwein will be joining the New Orleans Saints practice squad in the coming days in hopes of showcasing his talents and eventually making the roster either this or next year.

3 » With the losses piling up and options winding down, it appears as if Florida’s likely bowl game destination will be the 2012 Gator Bowl held in Jacksonville, FL at EverBank Field on Jan. 2. The Gators will either be 6-6 or 7-5, putting them in a position to be the sixth team chosen from the Southeastern Conference behind LSU, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, South Carolina and Auburn. The Gator Bowl is held between the No. 6 SEC and No. 4/5 Big Ten team, which means Florida could face a wide range of opponents depending which teams are chosen for other bowls.

4 » Gators women’s basketball (2-1) pulled a rare upset Thursday night, defeating the No. 19/21 Florida State Seminoles 72-58 at the Stephen C. O’Connell Center in Gainesville, FL. In the first game of a double-header prior to the men’s team’s clash with North Florida, Florida was led by junior guard Jennifer George, who scored 18 points on 9-of-11 shooting. Senior center Azania Stewart was dominant in the paint, scoring 10 points and registering six rebounds as well as four big blocks. Guards sophomore Jaterra Bonds and redshirt senior Jordan Jones each scored 14 points, and the Gators were 12-of-14 from the charity stripe as a team. The Gators host Hampton on Tuesday before participating in the Courtyard LaGuardia Turkey Classic in Brooklyn, NY from Nov. 25-26.

1 » No. 23 Florida Gators soccer (17-7) advanced to the second round of the 2011 NCAA Tournament on Saturday with a strong 3-0 victory over the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (14-5-2) at James G. Pressly Stadium in Gainesville, FL. Senior midfielder/forward Tahnai Annis scored consecutive goals for the Gators in the 16th and 68th minute before senior F/MF Lindsay Thompson followed suit with a conversion of her own from 10 yards out at 80’. The Eagles only took three shots the entire game, and freshman goalkeeper Taylor Burke was only forced to make one save during the contest. Florida will take on Central Florida on Friday at 7 p.m. in second round action.

2 » Unranked heading into the season, Gators women’s basketball had an opportunity to pick up a solid win in their opener but fell just short on Friday. Florida (0-1) was defeated 69-66 by the Michigan Wolverines (1-0), which outscored their opponents 9-7 with less than three minutes left in the game to pick up the victory. Senior guard Jordan Jones led the Gators with a career-high-tying five treys for 21 points on 20 shots, and senior G Lanita Bartley added 11 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Florida took 27 shots from downtown in the contest, making just 10, and was outrebounded 42-36 by Michigan.

3 » No. 18/19 Gators volleyball (21-5, 14-3 SEC) concluded the road portion of their regular season in style over the weekend, picking up a pair of hard-fought victories to continue an impressive four-game winning streak. Florida topped the LSU Tigers (17-9, 10-6 SEC) 3-1 (23-25, 25-14, 25-21, 25-12) on Friday behind a career performance from sophomore middle blocker Chloe Mann, who hit .900 on the evening with 18 kills on 20 swing with no errors and five blocks. The mark is the second-best in NCAA history for a player with 20+ swings in a single match and helped earned Mann SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors as announced Monday.

4 » The Gators had a greater test Sunday against the Arkansas Razorbacks (18-10, 10-7 SEC), fighting back from a two-set deficit to win 3-2 (18-25, 30-32, 25-21, 26-24, 15-9). Mann and senior outside hitter Kristy Jaeckel each had a 19 kills. That mark was a career-high for Mann, while Jaeckel and senior right-side/setter Kelly Murphy each completed a double-double. Florida will face Georgia (Nov. 18), Auburn (Nov. 20) and South Carolina (Nov. 23) at home before beginning NCAA Tournament action in Dec.

1 » Former Florida Gators running back Kestahn Moore received some good news Thursday evening when he learned that the Tennessee Titans decided to sign him and bring him into camp as a free agent. Moore, who was signed with Kansas City in training camp a year ago and was worked out by Tennessee last November, is back with the team on a trial basis and could play as soon as Saturday against St. Louis. He told The Tennessean that he originally thought he was heading to Nashville, TN just to work out for the team. “That’s why you have to stay ready and working out,” he said. “I’ve got a chance now and I am ready.”

2 » Speaking with the Associated Press on Thursday, Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow found humor in the alleged $5,000 bounty placed on his head by a Miami Hurricanes booster. “I didn’t know about that,” Tebow said. “It’s funny, though.” Tebow, who said he had “good memories” from his one game against Miami, is confident that no one went after him during the game. “That’s never what you want in sports. You’re playing to win,” he said. “You go hard. I mean, it’s a violent game, people get hit, people get hurt. But to go out there and purposely try to hurt someone? I don’t believe in that at all. That’s not why we play the game. So, that’s unfortunate if some people would go [such extremes]. But I don’t think all the Miami Hurricanes went out there trying to hurt me or anything because I had quite a few friends, as well. So, I think there were a lot of good players on that team, good kids on that team.”

3 » Just like the volleyball team, Florida soccer received plenty of praise from Southeastern Conference coaches this week. Surveyed in preseason poll, 11 of the 12 league coaches chose the Gators to win the 2011 SEC title. Additionally, two Florida soccer players – senior midfielder/forward Tahnai Annis and redshirt junior defender Kathryn Williamson – were named to the watch list for the 2011 Hermann Trophy, the highest individual award in NCAA soccer.

Over the last few weeks, OGGOA has conducted a number of interviews and posted them throughout the site. Due to the large amount of content posted each day, we wanted to make sure you did not miss any of them. Below are all of the the interviews that have been conducted since early July. A list of all of our exclusive interviews is available as a widget on the right sidebar of every page.

From time to time, OGGOA will come across a plethora of news and notes that we wish to share with our readers – too much to fit into one of our truncated BITS segments. In these instances, we present a special post: Gator Bites. Enjoy.

» With the NFL lockout now in the books, the Florida Gators four selections in the 2011 NFL Draft will be reporting to work for the first time on Thursday. Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey (first round, No. 15), Pittsburgh Steelers offensive lineman Marcus Gilbert (second round, No. 63), Tampa Bay Buccaneers strong safety Ahmad Black (fifth round, No. 151 and Washington Redskins guard Maurice Hurt (seventh round, No. 217 are all on teams who will be eligible to workout immediately.

» While that foursome is ready and raring to go, Florida also has a number of undrafted free agents hoping to be picked up by teams looking to supplement their roster. Among those available are defensive linemen Terron Sanders and Justin Trattou, running back Emmanuel Moody and wide receiver Carl Moore. OGGOA will update you if and when these players are picked up by teams.

» The WNBA held its 2011 All-Star game over the weekend and also announced its Top 15 Players of All Time at the event. Though she was nominated and up for selection to the list, former Gators forward DeLisha Milton-Jones was not picked by fans for the honor. The six-time champion (two Olympic gold medals, two WNBA titles, two Euroleague titles) is currently averaging 12.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 26.6 minutes per game with the Los Angeles Sparks.

There are 11 more Gator Bites including updates on Calathes, UF-FSU, Beal, Alvarez, Wambach, LeCount, ultimate Frisbee and Bostic…after the break!

» Competing in the 2011 Pan American Junior Athletics Championships over the weekend in Miramar, FL, Florida sophomore hurdler Eddie Lovett set an event record in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.14 seconds. He was one of three Gators to win (and one of four to place) at the Pan Am Games with sophomore runner Cory McGee also winning the women’s 1,500-meters in 4:35.46 and sophomore sprinter Ebony Eutsey taking a gold as part of the women’s 4×400-meter relay team (3:34.71).

» Former Florida point guard Nick Calathes, currently playing for Panathinaikos in Greece as well as the Greek National Team, will miss the EuroBasket event in Lithuania after fracturing his right ankle while working out back home in the United States. “The doctors told me that in three to four weeks, I’d be ready,” he told FIBA.com. “I am working hard to be able to come back and help the national team.”

» Gators sophomore forward Will Yeguete claimed a bronze medal as part of France’s U20 time at the 2011 FIBA European Championships on Monday. Yeguete, who averaged 6.2 points and 5.4 rebounds in nine contests with France, had two of his best games in the quarterfinals and semifinals where he posted totals of 13 points, six rebounds and 10 points, nine rebounds, respectively. His team was undefeated until the semifinals, and he earned plenty of praise for his outstanding defense throughout the tournament. “Playing for the French national team is something I didn’t have a chance to do before and coming here is a big excitement for me,” he told FIBA.com. “I wasn’t fortunate to be part of the team in the last years, but I joined the squad in late April and since then we practiced together and it’s such a great group of guys we have here, that it made me feel even more excited about this opportunity.”

» On the air with Mike Bianchi of the Orlando Sentinel, Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher once again said that he would ideally like to move his clash with UF to the beginning of the season. “I love the end-of-the-year game, it’s not that,” he said. “It’s just that you’ve got conference championship games now and you’re playing your biggest rival in an emotional game (the week before). […] That’s a tough thing for both schools to do.” Florida holds a 6-1 record against Florida State since 2004 and is 7-4 against them this century.

» The Gators are stacked at guard heading into the 2011-12 basketball season, something head coach Billy Donovan is undoubtedly aware of. Speaking with Yahoo! Sports’ Jason King recently, he related some thoughts about his team’s make-up and composition heading into next year. “It’s a great situation to have,” Donovan said of his talented group of guards, “but I realize there are a lot of people out there saying, ‘OK, how is this going to work?’ [...] There may even be times when all four of them are on the court together. What’s encouraging is that their chemistry is good. They really have a desire to make each other better.” As far as how five-star incoming freshman Brad Beal will fit in? “Our guys already know Brad Beal is a good player,” he said. “The way a freshman earns respect from veterans is by working hard every day and leaving the high school stuff behind. [...] Brad really understands that part of it. I think he’s coming in with a great deal of humility.”

» Former Florida wide receiver Carlos Alvarez is still accepting the fact that he was named a first-ballot entry into the College Football Hall of Fame as announced in May. Always humble and gracious, he explained his thoughts on the matter in an interview with the Miami Herald. “I’m not known for being out of words when I speak, but when I was told about it, I really was speechless. Truly so,” Alvarez said. “It’s quite a moment for me and my family, especially when I think back to the sacrifices that my family made to get me here. It is an emotional thing for me.” He also praised a former teammate who he said is the reason for much of his success. “When all is said and done, I wouldn’t be here without John Reaves,” he said. “My name and his name are forever tied.”

» Fresh off an impressive performance in the 2011 Women’s World Cup, former Gators striker Abby Wambach returned to the United States and, after a bit of fanfare, rejoined her Women’s Professional Soccer team, magicJack. Wambach, a starting striker for the club, will also spend the remainder of the season as the team’s coach after the squad lost their original coach and his replacement due to resignation and suspension, respectively. Read more about Wambach’s promotion to player-coach at ESPNW.com.

» Once a quarterback at Florida, Terry LeCount spent his career in the NFL as a wide receiver with the Minnesota Vikings. After only six years in the league, LeCount ended his career early after getting involved with and becoming addicted to cocaine and alcohol. For the last seven years, LeCount has been working as a paraprofessional, assisting a kindergarten teacher as an educator for special children. The Florida Times-Union recently sat down with LeCount, who was happy to talk about his new life while recognizing the mistakes he made previously. “I never fulfilled my NFL potential,” he said. “I could have played 15 years if I hadn’t done [drugs]. I got caught up doing the wrong thing. […] I’ve been through a lost time, but that’s also helped me reach some kids as a para pro. You never know who you’re going to reach, but you’re touching somebody. When I leave this earth, the biggest thing I can say is someone is going to take what I said and make a difference.”

» Gators two-time national champion ultimate Frisbee player Brodie Smith has been compiling a number of impressive trick shot videos that are making their rounds on YouTube and drawing rave reviews. A friend of OGGOA, Smith sent over some shorts for our readers to check out. View them here and here, and you can also check out some highlights from his successful career here.

» Former Florida Hall of Fame basketball player Dan Cross and his company Athlete Connections will be hosting an All Fundamentals Camp at Florida Gym from Aug. 2-5. Designed for kids in grades 3-10, it is packed with indispensable teachings from an entire staff that will help campers work on dribbling, shooting, passing, teamwork, respect, discipline, leadership, agility, footwork and more. Registration is $185 (spaces are limited) and there is also a parent-camper day on Friday so adults can see how much their kids and teens have improved throughout the course of the vent. For more information or to register for the event, please click here.

» Gators junior linebacker Jon Bostic participated in a podcast with CBSSports.com and spoke about both the 2010 season and upcoming 2011 season. Listen to it below:

By Nicole Boyett – OGGOA Student Correspondent

The WNBA may not be a professional sport followed by many Florida Gators fans, but it is time for them to start taking notice if they haven’t already as the only woman representing the Orange & Blue in the league, DeLisha Milton-Jones, has been nominated as one of the WNBA’s Top 15 Players of All Time.

During her time at Florida, Milton-Jones led the Gators to four NCAA Tournament appearances (including the 1997 Elite Eight) while earning Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and Associated Press All-American honors her senior year. She followed up her stellar collegiate career by playing in the ABL for two years before being was drafted with the No. 4 overall pick in the 1999 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. Now in her 13th WNBA season, Milton-Jones is one of the most accomplished players to step on the hardwood.

She has won two Olympic gold medals for Team USA (2000, 2008), back-to-back WNBA titles with Los Angeles (2001, 2002) and a pair of Euroleague Championships (2003, 2006) while also having been named a WNBA All-Star twice (2000, 2007).

At of the end of the 2010 season, she was 11th in the WNBA in total points, 10th in total rebounds, ninth in field goals made, 14th in free throws made, sixth in total steals, 13th in total blocks, 11th in minutes per game, and seventh in total minutes played. Despite her impressive career and overwhelming talent on the court, Milton-Jones continues to be overlooked as one of the greatest female basketball players to ever lace up her shoes. The hope is that her talent is recognized on July 23 when the WNBA announces the league’s all-time Top 15 players at the 15th annual All-Star Game in San Antonio, TX.

Milton-Jones sat down with OGGOA’s Nicole Boyett for an exclusive interview just a handful of games into her 13th WNBA season. Averaging 12.8 points and 5.0 rebounds per game, she continues to lead the Sparks and hopes to be recognized for the impact she has made on women’s basketball in the United States.

NICOLE BOYETT: What does it mean to you to be the only Gator in the WNBA and to have had such a long and successful career?
DELISHA MILTON-JONES: “I am proud that I’m the lone standing Gator in the league, but I’m also sad because I feel like there should definitely be more of us in the league. When [former Florida star] Murriel Page* decided to leave after her achilles injury, that was pretty much it for us, and I think that her and I both did a great job of representing the Gators all these years.”
*Page was selected No. 3 overall in the 1998 WNBA Draft by the Washington Mystics. She is now an assistant coach under Amanda Butler at UF.

NB: As a Gator, you won SEC Player of the Year, were an All-American and went to the NCAA Tournament every year. With all of your accomplishments at Florida, do you get the opportunity to come back and talk to the team or head coach Amanda Butler?
DMJ: “It is difficult to support the team the way I would like to because, in the off-season during their season, is when I leave for Europe. After the WNBA season, I usually have a week, maybe less, to prepare myself for the next eight months in Europe, so there’s really no downtime for me. For the past 11 years, I’ve been playing in Europe as well as the WNBA year-round, so it is very difficult to get back. I wasn’t even able to come back when I was inducted into the WNBA Hall of Fame because it was during an important time in the season in Europe and the team wouldn’t allow me to come back, so I had to miss it. My mother had to go in my place. I’m hoping that – when it’s all said and done and I decide to retire – that they allow me to come back and be able to participate in the ceremony in a different way.”

NB: You’ve won two gold medals with Team USA, two WNBA Championships and two Euroleague titles. How do those compare to each other and how does winning a gold medal compare to winning a championship?
DMJ: “A championship is a championship, but they all feel good. I think the difference is that the gold medals probably have more value to me because it’s on the largest stage possible and I won. I consider myself to be so blessed, lucky, and privileged to have been a participant in several Olympics. That’s just a dream come true and it lets you know that you are in a category that many people would give their arm for just to be able to participate in. To be able to walk into the opening ceremonies and participate in the game is something that was so special that if I hadn’t gotten the gold medal, it wouldn’t matter because the memories will last a lifetime. Any time I think of that feeling, it just sends chills down my spine.”

Read the rest of our exclusive interview with Milton-Jones…after the break!

NB: Have you had any especially unique experiences during your time playing professionally? I know you coached the L.A. Stars at one point…
DMJ: “The Stars are a men’s team in Los Angeles in the American Basketball Association. My husband was a member of the team when their coach left for that season, and they asked me to coach the team. I coached the team because I was actually here [in L.A.] doing rehab at the time because I had torn my ACL right before the Greece Olympics. I wasn’t able to participate in the Olympics, so I just decided to coach the team for a while, do my rehab, and prepare myself for the European season.”

NB: Was it difficult to coach your husband and his teammates?
DMJ: “No, the guys really showed a lot of respect because they knew that I know the game and they knew the level that I play on. That in and of itself created a certain level of respect. There was a weird moment: I had to call my husband out in practice in front of everyone. I told him he needs to get in shape and I got on him pretty hard. I think when the guys saw me do that, it showed them, ‘She’s not showing favoritism. She’s really serious about this and we are actually learning something from her in this experience.’”

NB: You are an extremely accomplished player in the WNBA. What are some goals you have for this season and your future career?
DMJ: “My goal for this season: I would love to participate in the All-Star game or even make the All-WNBA first or second team. That’s something that hasn’t happened in my career. I think I’ve done a great job of winning a lot of team-oriented accolades, but now it’s time for me to solidify myself as an individual in this league. It’s kind of tough to do that especially when you’ve played on the types of teams that I’ve played on where you have five out of the 10 players on the team who are all perennial All-Stars or first- or second-team All-WNBA and even Olympians. It’s kind of hard to achieve individual accolades when you’re in a situation like that, so that’s something that I have my sights set on and I hope and pray to God that’s something that can happen.”

NB: Do you also have your sights set on a championship this year?
DMJ: “What’s the point in playing if you’re not playing for a championship?”

NB: That’s what we like to hear. Do you think Florida has that mentality?
DMJ: “People love winners, so if we put together a great season then the people will come. I’ve had a few conversations with Coach Butler and we’ve played together. I wrote a letter to the girls to try and encourage them for this upcoming season, and we follow each other on Twitter (@DeLishaMJones) and say hi every now and then, but I know she’s just as busy as I am. I wish them well and I hope that I’m able to play against some of them someday soon in the league or in Europe and I hope that they continue to wear their Orange & Blue with a lot of pride and passion.”

NB: Is there anything you would like to tell Gator Nation?
DMJ: “Support the women’s team there because if you are a Gator, that means you are solidified as a great athlete. You can follow me on Twitter to get an intimate viewpoint into my life and support the lone Gator that’s still in the league. Vote for me to be in the All-Star game this season online or through text message. I’d love to have Gator Nation stand up for me so I can represent the Gators in the game!”

Updated on July 1 at 12:45 a.m.

OGGOA is now on day three of our planking watch as Florida Gators student-athletes try to up the ante and take the game to another level. On Thursday, some Florida softball, soccer and women’s basketball players joined in on the fun, but redshirt freshman defensive end Lynden Trail continues to steal the show. Will someone catch up to him or overtake him? Only time will tell…

If you still need to catch up, here are the posts containing the pictures of what Trail and some other football players did Tuesday and Wednesday. Here are Trail’s newest submissions for Thursday as he takes it up a notch:

Even Cleveland Browns cornerback Joe Haden got in on the fun…

The ladies’ efforts are more than respectable with sophomore pitcher/utility player Ensley Gammel and shortstop Cheyenne Coyle representing softball; junior forward Jennifer George, redshirt senior guard Jordan Jones and frosh G Carlie Needles featured for basketball; and sophomore F Taylor Travis taking a seat for soccer. Leading the way here, of course, are ladies from the gymnastics team.

Last but not least are another pair of submissions from the football team featuring redshirt freshman defensive tackle Leon Orr, sophomore wide receiver Robert Clark, sophomore tackle Ian Silberman and NFL centers Maurkice and Mike Pouncey…

1 » Former Florida Gators cornerback Janoris Jenkins, whose career hangs in limbo as he decides whether to try his hand at the NFL via the Supplemental Draft, another professional league or another college, is leaning toward the latter choice according to Len Pasquarelli of CBS Sports. Two sources told Pasquarelli that Jenkins will likely transfer to a non-Division I school in order to paint himself in a better light before the 2012 NFL Draft rolls around. “It’s about 50-50 right now that he tries to find a [college] to play and convince scouts that he’s really serious about an NFL career,” one of Pasquarelli’s sources told him.

2 » With offers from a number of other top-tier institutions, one of the best women’s basketball recruits in the state of Kentucky decided to commit to Florida on Monday. Sydney Moss, the daughter of NFL wide receiver Randy Moss, will sign with the Gators in November. She chose Florida over Kentucky, Kansas, Louisville, West Virginia, Dayton, Xavier and UCLA and averaged 22.6 points and 10.8 rebounds per game as a junior in high school.
