After a sub-standard performance in a win over East Carolina, Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain met with the media on Monday and Wednesday to preview the team’s upcoming road contest against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in Lexington, Kentucky.

Florida Gators starters S Keanu Neal, OT Martez Ivey doubtful for 2015 season opener

Florida Gators head coach Jim McElwain confirmed Wednesday during his final media availability ahead of the team’s season opener on Saturday that junior safety Keanu Neal and freshman offensive tackle Martez Ivey will both miss the 7:30 p.m. game against the New Mexico State Aggies due to injuries suffered during practice.

Neal and Ivey were both listed as “doubtful” by McElwain, who just hours earlier Wednesday described the players as “questionable” for the contest.

Florida Gators DE McCalister, DB Maye, WR Pittman suspended for 2015 opener

The Florida Gators announced Friday that redshirt junior defensive end Alex McCalister, redshirt junior defensive back Marcus Maye and senior wide receiver Latroy Pittman Jr. will “miss” the team’s season opener against New Mexico State on Saturday, Sept. 5.

All three players will be serving a suspension for violation of athletic department policy, per the school.
