4 BITS: Florida Gators F/C David Lee traded from Golden State Warriors to Boston Celtics

1 » Former Florida Gators forward/center David Lee had a rough year as a member of the Golden State Warriors. On a max contract, Lee was relegated to a bench role and did not see significant minutes until late in the 2015 NBA Playoffs when his presence was needed to help lead Golden State to a title. With one year and $15.5 million remaining on Lee’s six-year deal, the Warriors and Lee mutually agreed to a parting of ways this offseason, which has resulted in the player being traded to the Boston Celtics. According to basketball writer Tommy Dee, who first reported the trade, Lee’s former team (the New York Knicks) was also considering bringing Lee back in the fold at some point but a three-way trade was unable to materialize. ESPN has also reported Lee’s trade, noting that he was exchanged for Gerald Wallace.

Florida Gators in 2015 NBA Playoffs: 3 in Finals

Ten of the 11 former Florida Gators basketball players in NBA advanced to the league’s postseason for the 2014-15 season. The Gators were represented on nine of the 16 playoff teams with four starters and six reserves active for competition. The 10 total UF players in the postseason marked the most of any school this year.

Three have since advanced to the 2015 NBA Finals, representing both of the teams remaining in the field. As such, a former Florida player is guaranteed to win the NBA Finals for the fifth consecutive season.

Al Horford game-winner leads Atlanta Hawks to 82-81 victory over Washington Wizards

Going back-and-forth in the final minute on Wednesday, the Atlanta Hawks eventually pulled off an 82-81 victory over the Washington Wizards in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference semifinals on the back of a game-winning layup by center Al Horford.

The former Florida Gators star flew into the paint just seconds remaining, grabbed an offensive rebound and laid the ball in with less than two seconds left, turning a potential one-point loss into a one-point victory.

1 » Former Florida Gators quarterback Tim Tebow‘s dream of returning to the NFL has not died despite Tebow entering the world of broadcasting and refusing to either change positions or play in a lesser league (CFL, AFL) in order to get noticed by teams. According to the Boston Globe, which spoke with Tebow’s throwing coach of the last two years, the player may be considering entering the first-ever NFL Veteran Combine on March 22. “[Trainer Tom] House told us on Friday that he isn’t sure if Tebow will be attending the combine, but ‘he went from being a little inaccurate and didn’t throw a whole lot of spirals, to throwing very accurate and real good at spinning the ball.'” OnlyGators.com has spoken with the NFL’s regional combine officials on multiple occasions over the last few weeks but was told that an official roster would not be released either at all or at least until much closer to the event.
