Florida basketball up to No. 5/6 in new top 25 polls

The fourth regular season editions of the 2012-13 ESPN/USA Today and Associated Press Top 25 Polls were released on Monday, and the Indiana Hoosiers (8-0) held on to the No. 1 ranking, receiving 70 of 96 votes as the top team in the country.

The Florida Gators jumped up two spots in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll to No. 5 and one spot in the AP Top 25 to No. 6. Florida gained 56 voting points in the ESPN/USA Today rankings and added 97 voting points in the AP poll. The Gators are one of just three Southeastern Conference teams listed in the rankings this week.

These are Florida’s highest rankings since the conclusion of the 2006-07 season.
