Rumors have been circling over the last few weeks that the Florida Gators would be unveiling a special uniform for one of their final two home games of the 2009 season. Two sources close to OGGOA have provided us with exclusive information regarding the Gators special uniforms, including a picture of the gloves that will be worn for the game.

Last week, OGGOA received images of brand new Nike Pro Combat uniforms that the Florida State Seminoles plan to wear on Nov. 21 against the Maryland Terrapins. These uniforms will be worn by the Seminoles, Gators and eight other teams to promote Nike’s new line. Each team has its own tagline, too:

Florida Gators – Finish the Mission; Florida State Seminoles – Fear the Spear; Virginia Tech Hokies – Good Guys Wear White; TCU Horned Frogs – Never Back Down; Ohio State Buckeyes – Earned; Oklahoma Sooners – Stake Our Claim; Texas Longhorns – It Only Takes Eleven; LSU Tigers – Cochon De Lait; Missouri Tigers – Beast Mode; Miami Hurricanes – The U Knows

While OGGOA has yet to come across pictures of Florida’s uniforms for the game, below you will find a picture of Florida State’s. Nike’s Pro Combat uniforms are said to be 37% lighter than current designs and utilize a four-way stretch twill that does not hold sweat or water. Additional features include Nike’s Dri-FIT technology, evaporation and cooling zones, more padding zones and improved ventilation and breathability. Players will also wear Nike Vapor Trail 2.0 gloves (see above) and Nike Zoom Air cleats that are light weight and feature better cushioning in the heel.

  3. Ana says:

Ewh, can’t stand the gloves. Let’s hope the uniform isn’t a complete wash-out.

  4. Really Ana? I think the gloves are awesome.

  5. MJ says:

I concur with Adam. The gloves are fire! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the uni looks like. Good look Nike 😉

  7. I remember the Gators playing quite well in the one-sleeve uniforms a few years back.

  8. Sorry for anyone reading this for the site loading slow right now. Must be the huge influx of traffic that we’ve seen today. Will work it out as soon as possible.

Rich – Thanks for sharing the site on a message board. At the bottom of each post is a “Share” link that can be used to post to facebook, digg, stumbleupon, etc.

As long as they don’t look as bad as the Fla/Ga game back in 2005. Those one sleeved things were something awful.

I say bring back the throwbacks with th white helmet and “F” on the helmet as those are classics

Letdown! I thought this post would be about uni’s that commemorate the final home game of the championship(?) season with the greatest college player ever.

Instead? Nike promo opportunity. 12 to 6!

  11. Dawgs1952 says:

Will the dawgs be getting these jerseys? Why did they pick those schools? GO DAWGS!!!!!

  12. No. These are only for one game this season to promote the new Nike line. As far as why they picked those schools and why the Dawgs didn’t get them, I could give you a sarcastic or honest answer. I’ll go with honest. It looks like they picked some of the top teams in each conference and others with high exposure. I’d assume they picked all three Florida schools because, let’s face it, they want high school players to buy the gear and Florida is big-time high school football. Thanks for stopping by the site.

But the real question is… Will they be the Orange Uni’s?!?!?!!! Da na na na na na.

  15. Kelly says:

Those gloves are on fire! Can’t wait to see the rest of the uniforms compare…

  16. Mr2Bits says:

    Kelly,
The gloves may be on fire but it doesn’t matter when no balls are ever thrown to them. If Nike were smart they would add some padding to them as blocking is the only thing our receiving corp is good for these days

  17. GIbbs says:

All u gotta do is go to nike.com n u can see all of the uni’s…. sumbody needs to do more research kuz i found it on accident
