No. 6 Florida Gators head coach Will Muschamp made his scheduled appearance Wednesday on the Southeastern Conference‘s weekly coaches teleconference and touched on a number of topics surrounding his team and Saturday’s game.
Three Gators are already expected to be out of action for Saturday’s game. Redshirt sophomore running back Mack Brown injured his ankle last week against Missouri and “has not been able to do anything this week,” Muschamp said. Redshirt junior wide receiver Andre Debose, who had just begun dipping his toe in the offensive water this season, hyperextended his knee last Thursday, missed Saturday’s game and was unable to return to practice Tuesday.
Finally, redshirt sophomore defensive tackle Leon Orr (illness) visited the hospital last week to receive IV fluids and is still working his way back to game shape.
NOTES AND QUOTES
» On Florida throwing the ball more often in recent games: “I think a little bit how the game’s played out. We realized we need to do a little bit more vertically throwing the football. It’s been a little bit of a conscious effort but more than anything what the defense has given us. People are loading the box. We got to create some opportunities for us down the field.”
» On sophomore quarterback Jacoby Brissett‘s maturity when learning he did not win the starting job: “Jacoby’s ac ompetiator and a guy that has handled this as good as anybody can handle it.”
