Florida Gators football will host the North Texas Mean Green in 2016 with the programs set to square off on the gridiron for the first time since 1947.

North Texas announced its 2016 nonconference schedule on Wednesday, and a source confirmed to OnlyGators.com shortly thereafter that Florida will indeed host the program on Sept. 17, 2016.

The Gators are also expected to play UMass in 2016 (tentatively on Sept. 3) and have one nonconference slot still open on their schedule.

Florida is 0-1 all-time against North Texas, dropping the 1947 contest (played in Gainesville, Florida) by a score of 20-12.

The Gators will begin the 2017 campaign with a neutral-site contest against Michigan in Arlington, Texas, on Sept. 2.

Oh boy, they are a combined 1-13. I guess we should be happy that they are division 1.

  2. Spike says:

Setting up to be another riveting home schedule. Lsu will be the only game worth the price of admission.
