Mike Pouncey served grand jury subpoena “related to” Aaron Hernandez investigation

Miami Dolphins center Mike Pouncey, a teammate and close friend of tight end Aaron Hernandez when both men played for the Florida Gators, was served a grand jury subpoena by the Massachusetts State Police shortly after his team’s 27-17 loss to the New England Patriots on Sunday in Foxborough, MA.

According to SI.com’s Pete Thamel and Greg A. Bedard, who broke the story Sunday evening after speaking with a “source with knowledge of the matter,” the subpoena served to Pouncey is “related to” the Hernandez investigation.

The source indicated that police are focusing in on Hernandez’s potential involvement in interstate gun trafficking, which is being investigated by several agencies in multiple states — at least Massachusetts, New York and Florida.

The extent of Pouncey’s potential involvement is undetermined, but police are focusing on multiple transactions that involve him and Hernandez.

Pouncey has not been charged with a crime as of press time. Whether he is in the future remains to be seen. More likely than not, investigators see him as a material witness in their case against Hernandez, one who may be able to assist the state in gathering the necessary evidence to achieve a conviction once the case goes to trial.

Hernandez has been charged with first-degree murder – and five other gun-related offenses – in the September death of Odin Lloyd. He is also considered to be a prime suspect in a July 2012 double murder committed in Massachusetts and a February 2013 shooting of an associate in South Florida.

It is unknown whether Pouncey’s brother, Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey, has also been subpoenaed.

It’s amazing how far one can fall. It is also testament to the kind of person he always was.

I wouldn’t call it falling. You don’t need to be a psychologist to realize that Hernandez is a psychopath. Falling would imply that he didn’t have a screw loose to begin with.

The Gainesville PD report states that a “hawaiian” and another man walked up to the car and the hawaiian started shooting. Nobody knows who the other man was….now we know why Urban left so fast.

No joke, Meyer is a total scumbag and I am glad he no longer has anything to do with Florida.

Meyer is the most successful football coach this program has ever had. Everyone needs to get over the Meyer hate already. It’s ridiculous and you all look like sore losers every time you bring it up.

        • Tractorr says:

Wrong, Spurrier was far more successful than Meyer.

If you have no moral compass and are okay with doing whatever it takes to win including protecting criminals that is your problem. Meyer is a scumbag and his apologists likely are as well.

Wrong, Spurrier was far more successful than Meyer. More wins by number and percentage.

Nice, calling me a scumbag over the internet. What a man you are.

            • Tractorr says:

What is the first rule you learned in sports? It isn’t whether you win or lose it is how you play the game. Meyer obviously played fast and lose with the rules, and he left when things got tough. To keep defending him just because he won is the most unsportsmanlike thing I can think of. If you can’t grasp that I am truly sorry for you.
