Five days later, A.C. Leonard recommits to Gators

Less than a week after decommitting from the Florida Gators, four-star tight end recruit A.C. Leonard (Jacksonville, FL) has renewed his pledge to the University of Florida and claims that it is his final decision, according to a report from Scout.com.

Leonard told Scout that outside influences were pulling him in different directions and giving him bad advice about his future; after thinking about it, he decided to recommit and is “shutting the whole process down” out of respect for the Gators.

“I will enroll early at the University of Florida in January to try and help bring a championship back to Gainesville,” he told Scout‘s Jason Higdon. “I want to apologize to the Gator Nation and coach [Urban] Meyer, coach [Scot] Loeffler and coach [Brian] White. […] I am 100 percent Gator and the recruiting process is over.”

Florida’s second commitment for 2011 (he verbally agreed to join the team on Nov. 29, 2009), Leonard is also the third-highest rated behind five-star quarterback Jeff Driskel (Oviedo, FL) and four-star defensive end Jeoffrey Pagan (Asheville, NC). After decommiting on Oct. 13, he said he was considering Alabama, Miami and Nebraska.

We need a lot more help. Hopefully, the recruits are seeing opportunities and not an inept team …

Glad to hear A.C. has reconsidered. The performances he’s seen will get better. Have faith, this year is ugly, but our future is bright.

You just know that schools are coming at this kid very hard. In the age of the hat game it’s refreshing to see him “shut down out of respect” and issue apologies. I would call that polite humility. Nice!

Can’t wait to see you in Orange-n-Blue A.C. Welcome (back) to Gator Nation.

Best news I have heard in months! Welcome AC – you will thrive at UF!

Welcome back. Maybe if we lose to FSU or Ga, we can bring Wilder Jr. our way!

And this is why you should reserve the trashy comments on a commit – assuming you just have to make them at all – until they are enrolled at some rival.

Yeah! Welcome to the Gator Nation. A.C. Leonard grades out a champion for coming to a team that he knows is in trouble, and offering to help be part of the solution.

Did he recommit after he saw the craigslist ad for a new offensive coordinator??? haha

Welcome back, Mr. Leonard. Work hard and learn the plays. We want to see you on the field early next season.

Adam, do you know how well are recruits have been doing? I heard Easley wants to transfer but obviously Elam and Powell have been doing very well

Florida has only gained 400 yards of total offense against SEC opponents twice in the last two years, and both of those games came against Kentucky. ……Can anyone defend these stats…Addazio needs to be replaced as play caller before the UGA Leghumper game

After reading the next article on AC Leonard, I will take back my comment on him grading out a champion. The kid has anger issues. I hope he can focus that anger when he gets to UF. For now, the Gator Nation has one more nugget for everyone else to pick on us about.
