In celebration of the 25-year anniversary of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium becoming The Swamp, the Florida Gators and Nike have released a special alternate uniform they will wear on Saturday night against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Though it may look grey or chrome, it is actually a “swamp green” color that Florida will be wearing for the first time. In fact, the Gators have never previously worn a uniform or helmet of a color other than orange, blue or white in the history of the program.

The new look “takes after an alligator’s armored body and channels its ability to be a master of camouflage,” according to the school release. More details below the video.

The swamp green helmet features the Gator Head logo for the first time in program history. The lid also has a “satin finish.” You will also notice that the Gator Head logo has been altered to include the swamp green color as opposed to the normal green.

There is also some merchandise you can buy related to the new uniforms. Doing so will directly support OnlyGators.com so be sure to purchase from these links if interested.

Good thing the game is at night. Well at least it will give everybody something besides the coaches, the players or the refs to blame the loss on

  2. JimmyJohns says:

There are no words that can adequately describe how terrible those are.

  3. Marc says:

The t-shirts and jerseys that they released early on nike.com looked like actual puke. When it’s all put together, however, it looks pretty good. Can’t say I’d want to see it more than once, but still cool.

  4. Luke Grogan says:

Count me in the small group that likes them. Very different from the norm, but better than the all orange unis. Although my favorite alternative was the throwback of ‘06 I believe against LSU in the swamp…

  5. Jeremy Martin says:

It seems like the overwhelming response is negative. They’re definitely a departure from their traditional uniform, but I like ’em.

Worse thing I have seen at Florida Field. Embarrassed. I would never buy this junk. Should not be wearing Black Helmets or the Gator Circle Loge EVER. I won’t be going to watch the team in that garbage.

We are the Orange and Blue. This looks like Oregon Ducks copycat stuff. Alabama would never permit its team to look like this and we shouldn’t either.

  7. Larry says:

This is by far the worst uniform in the history of college football..

  8. DiamondD says:

I’m pleased we actually went out on a limb and created something original. Once in a Blue Moon is not often enough for me when it comes to alternate uniforms.

  9. Mike The Red says:

    Whose brilliant idea was this?

I will never buy another Nike product in protest to their disrespect for our school traditions.

Ha ha ha ha ha …….. just when I think I have heard all the Gator whiners and crybabies, I read these comments and realize that the situation is even more pathetic than I could have imagined. The uniforms would actually be a reason for some of you to not watch the game? Ha ha Ha ha ha Ha ha ha, lol, unbelievable.

The uniforms are fine , whinebags. Actually, they are kind of cool, although I could care less if that’s “what the kids want.” Give it a rest. I can’t imagine what it must be like to live with some of you perpetual malcontents.

It’s even funny to me how many comments are posted to this article versus the relative lack of interest Gator Nation shows in respect to much more important matters. I only checked it out to see what so many people were squawking about and, as usual, you clowns did not disappoint me.

  11. Nick says:

These are by far the dopest uniforms I have ever seen. You dipshits don’t know what you’re talking about wow. Get some eyes dummies those are unreal.
