After dropping in rankings back-to-back weeks following wins, the Florida Gators were steady in the fourth edition of the USA Today and Associated Press Top 25 polls. Just one day after defeating the Tennessee Volunteers 31-17 at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, TN, the Gators fell one and rose one spot in the respective polls.

Ranked No. 3 in the USA Today Coaches’ poll going into the season, Florida was moved down to No. 6 two weeks ago, losing 115 points in the process; voters also dropped them last week to No. 7, taking away 22 more points. For the third straight week the Gators fell in the poll; they are now listed at No. 8 after losing 16 more points.

The AP voters had Florida ranked No. 4 in their preseason poll, but knocked them down four spots after the first week, taking away 172 points from their total. The Gators lost more 201 more points last week, falling to No. 10. However, UF rose this week – one spot to No. 9 – gaining eight points in the process due to Iowa’s loss to Arizona.

Kentucky will be a heck of a game, need to win

  2. scooterp says:

We should fall to #14 after our win against Kentucky…sounds about right.

  3. Gatorbuc15 says:

That game is in da Swamp. If we don’t win, that’ll be pretty sad.

  4. Escambia94 says:

Look at Kentucky’s stats. On paper the week 4 Wildcats and week 4 Gators match up well, with Kentucky having a decent advantage on offense with rushing. UK is ranked #2 in the SEC in several key offense categories. Swamp or not, you never know what’s going to happen when you are as inconsistent as the current Gators.

  5. cline says:

UK has not played an SEC game yet, so hard for me to believe they lead the SEC in anything. Bring it on Kitties!

  6. Aligator says:

I think we are right where we should be ranked. We were higher than we should have been and we are not a top five team right now.

  7. brlgator says:

I agree with aligator. We are likely in the 8-15 range. I think I was a bit optimistic to think we could just replace TT and everyone else and jump right back into the top 5 seemlessly.

Plus if you look at the polls Oregon, Texas and Nebraska are the only teams ranked ahead of us that are breaking in new qbs too.

Rankings will take care of themselves when you win in the SEC…who cares this early on..3-0 Go Gators!
