Though things could still change over the next five days, the Florida Gators on Monday afternoon released an updated depth chart ahead of Saturday’s game.

Florida omitted players that are not participating against the Tennessee Volunteers due to injury or suspension; therefore, the depth chart below is an “active” version rather than a “best-case scenario” version.

I think vernon switched jersey #s to 1 though. Thanks for the update as always

  2. Courtney says:

Why wasnt watkins starting in the first place

    • gatorboi352 says:

Because he’s probably no better than Maye at safety so in reality this is a wash.

Remember: good at corner does not equal good at safety.

  3. gatorboi352 says:

So let’s get into Muschamp’s way of thinking here:

Maye gets replaced as the starting saftey because: “Watkins replaces Maye as the starter. “You just can’t give up big plays. We can’t afford that to happen. You got to tackle better.”

Yet Clay Burton is still our starting TE.

    ‘Nuff said.

    • Tractorr says:

It is perplexing how Kent Taylor and Colin Thompson have not been able to jump into the top two spots, but in the secondary there are far more options which is why Maye gets replaced. I fear that Taylor and Thompson are not as good as thought if they can’t pass Burton and Westbrook.

      • gatorboi352 says:

The point I was more getting at was Muschamp’s ability (or potential lack thereof) of evaluating offense as opposed to his forte’ of defense.

I think at least some of our woes on offense need to starting being put on Muschamp. I don’t know if his “leash” is just longer for the offensive guys, or if he’s really _that_ hands off with them that things like Clay Burton drawing a 15 yd personal foul warrants him lining up on the very next snap without repercussion.

        • Michael Jones says:

I think you make some good points. My beef is that it appears that Muschamp’s too much involved in the offense. Why did he even hire Pease if he just wants to try to pound the ball down your throat? Our offense looks nothing like the Boise State offense that Pease was coordinating before he came here. Hiring him to run our offense is like hiring Mario Andretti to drive a road grader.

Just watching Alabama’s mix of running plays and play action passes Saturday and wondering why we can’t do the same thing made me sick to my stomach. Driskel still looks like a deer in headlights. Turning Pease loose would result in Driskel getting more confidence building easy reads. Guaranteed.

Run run pass. . . run run pass. . . run run pass. . . and then panicking at the goal line at the end of the game and abandoning the run just when the Miami D was getting wore out. . . frustrating to watch, man.

      • Michael Jones says:

Yeah. Same question. How in the heck can recruits as highly rated as Kent Taylor and Colin Thompson were not be able to get any playing time with those two guys ahead of them?

  4. gatorking says:

we need kelvin Taylor to recieve some carrys For a change back. Mack Brown and matt jones are too slow, and are same type of backs. Why arent we playing him

    • gatorboi352 says:

Apparently he has fumble issues and issues picking up blocks.

    • Michael Jones says:

I’m not ready to give up on Jones or Brown yet. . but, that said, I too thought Taylor should have gotten some carries against Miami. The little I’ve seen of him, he has those special qualities that you RARELY seen in a back. I haven’t seen a freshman runner like him since Emmitt Smith.

    • G2 says:

You are correct sir. He has speed and power, was hoping to see him break one in the second half at Miami. Don’t know what it is but MB looks awful slow to me.

  5. Michael Jones says:

Great having Halapio back!! Losing him and Chaz Green was huge, man. . huge. I was surprised the Moore didn’t have a better game against Miami.

  6. Courtney says:

If anything riggs should come off the bench, he is way to small for safety. While Maye s upside is bigger than watkins, i don’t think he is better now.

  7. kinggator says:

Maye got beat deep tho, riggs has been playing very well and is very fast good tackler good coverage… Our defense is fine we need more Big plays out of the running backs to take pressue off drisk
