It’s been a busy few months for Steve Spurrier since he became an ambassador and consultant with the Florida Gators.
He’s been meeting with boosters, providing sound bites to the media and promoting his new book, all while waiting for the Gators season opener in which he was to have the surface of Ben Hill Griffin Stadium formally named after him.
That became a reality on Saturday when Steve Spurrier-Florida Field was unveiled. Spurrier took to the field and gave a rousing speech to the crowd in The Swamp before donning a pale yellow T-shirt to perform as the honorary Mr. Two-Bits ahead of the game.
Spurrier deserved a solid B+ for his speech and a C for his Mr. Two-Bits rendition but what he did afterward was A+ all the way.
With Florida fans cheering him on, Spurrier celebrated, well, being Spurrier. He turned in all four directions while posing just like Usain Bolt. In short, it was perfection. Check it out.
