The first regular season editions of the USA Today Coaches’ Poll and Associated Press Top 25 were released on Tuesday with the Alabama Crimson Tide remaining the No. 1-ranked team in the country in both polls. Alabama received 58-of-62 first-place votes from the coaches and 58-of-60 first-place votes from the AP voters.

The Florida Gators (1-0), fresh off of a season opening 24-6 victory over Toledo at home, moved up one spot to No. 9 in the USA Today rankings but fell two places to No. 12 – while being jumped by LSU and Florida State – in the AP top 25. Florida checked in with 974 points (+34) in the USA Today poll and 875 points (-19) in the AP rankings.

Florida’s opponent on Saturday, the Miami Hurricanes, squeaked into the to 25 at a tie with TCU for No. 24 in the USA Today poll. Miami was not ranked by the AP voters, however, finishing 26th – eight points behind USC.

So we dropped in the AP poll? Hilarious. One thing’s for sure, it all works itself out before the season’s over. Want to control our own destiny? Just win, baby.
