Though things could still change over the next five days, the Florida Gators on Monday morning released the team’s first official depth chart for the 2013 season.
Florida omitted players that are not participating in the season opener due to injury or suspension; therefore, the depth chart below is an “active” version rather than a “best-case scenario” version. Notations marked with (») can be found below certain positions.

K: 16 Austin Hardin, 97 Brad Phillips
» Muschamp on picking Hardin over Phillips: “Right now, Austin would be [the starter]. Brad was slowed by a groin. Again, Brad kicked well when he kicked. He just didn’t have as many attempts and at-bat as Austin did. Austin sort of distanced himself to be the kickoff guy and have the placekicking duties. Again, Brad has been a guy that’s been in the game before and done it when the lights were on. That’s something we’re going to continue to work through through the season.”
P: 4 Kyle Christy, 40 Justin Vogel
» 19 Johnny Townsend purposely held off depth chart (redshirt).
H: 10 Tyler Murphy, 43 Kyle Crofoot
» Trey Burton is no longer holding.
LS: 46 Drew Ferris, 43 Kyle Crofoot
KR: 83 Solomon Patton, 10 Valdez Showers
» Debose is out for the season.
PR: 5 Marcus Roberson, 8 Trey Burton, 24 Brian Poole
» Muschamp on why Purifoy is not listed as a kick or punt returner: “He’ll be back [as a kick returner] at times. We rotate guys through there. It depends on also the off-returner at times is somebody that’s going to spray the ball. We want two returners back there – if they’re going to try and pin the ball, we may want more of a blocker at the off-returner. We have multiple guys. He’s also returned punts for us as well.”
