The Florida Gators added yet another piece to their 2017 roster on Sunday, though this one will not be eligible to play for a full season. Sophomore defensive tackle Marlon Dunlap announced on Twitter that he will leave the North Carolina Tar Heels and transfer to Florida this semester.

“After much deliberation, I have decided to continue my education and football career at the University of Florida,” he tweeted. “… I am a Gator #Gogators #The swamp”

Dunlap (6-foot-4, 300 pounds) attended West Charlotte High School as a four-year starter and played in seven games with four tackles and a sack as a true freshman last season at North Carolina. He was rated as a three-star prospect in the Class of 2016. Florida recruited him but did not provide a scholarship offer that cycle.

He will sit out the 2017 campaign per NCAA transfer rules and be able to play with three seasons of eligibility remaining beginning in 218.
