WATCH: Four-star WR Jacob Copeland commits to Florida as Gators class skyrockets
Football

There was a brief stay in the Florida Gators‘ recruiting momentum, but business quickly picked up Wednesday night when four-star wide receiver Jacob Copeland (Pensacola, FL) announced his intentions through a special commitment video produced by SEC Country.

Copeland takes the viewer through the stresses of being recruited by fans, friends and people in the community. He also visits his old house and points out bullet holes in the windows. It ends with Copeland doing the Gator Chomp atop an ATV.

The 6-foot, 192-pound wideout is ranked as the 52nd best player in the nation per the 247Sports Composite. He immediately becomes the second-highest rated player in Florida’s 2018 class. The Gators have obtained their top three commitments — and five of their top six overall — in the last 16 days.

As such, Florida has moved from No. 61 nationally in the class rankings to the No. 8 recruiting class in the country. Its top three commitments are offensive players, a stark change to how the Gators had been recruiting over the last few years. Copeland committed to Florida over Alabama and Florida State in what stands as one of head coach Jim McElwain‘s biggest recruiting coups to date.
