With offensive line depth an issue for the Florida Gators, there is plenty of opportunity for young players to come in and make a difference immediately. Three-star center Brett Heggie (Mount Dora, FL) has decided to take advantage of that opportunity by committing to Florida on Friday evening.
In attendance at the Gators’ Friday Night Lights camp in Gainesville, Florida, Heggie (6-foot-5, 300 pounds) officially chose UF over Miami, Mississippi State, South Carolina and West Virginia, among others.
Heggie, whose commitment was first reported by the Orlando Sentinel, did not receive an offer from Florida until May 20 but has since visited the program twice in as many months. He is now the latest addition for offensive line coach Mike Summers’s unit.
Heggie is the third offensive lineman and 16th prospect overall to pledge to join the Gators in 2016, 14 of which are three-star prospects per the 247Sports Composite and 12 of which are from the state of Florida.
