Not even halfway to National Signing Day, the Florida Gators are rolling in the 2020 recruiting cycle. The team already has the ninth-ranked class, per the 247 Sports Composite, and is looking to add key pieces over the next seven months.

Florida hopes one of those is three-star offensive lineman Richie Leonard (Cocoa, FL), who committed to UF on Saturday over Florida State, Kentucky, Miami and Tennessee, among others. Leonard (6-foot-2, 320 pounds) joins a pair of three-star prospects up front in the class and is the 17th commitment following a couple of recent defections.

Decommitting from the Gators recently were three-star defensive end Morven Joseph (Lakeland, FL) on Friday and three-star athlete Jaheim Bell (Valdosta, GA) on Thursday. Both prospects initially committed this spring and noted that Florida remains a top school under consideration down the stretch.

While the Gators’ Class of 2020 is ranked No. 9 in the nation and No. 4 in the SEC, it is one of only two teams (Michigan) without a five-star commitment and trails far behind five of the eight schools ahead of it in terms of average star ranking. Florida and head coach Dan Mullen are still trying to prove the program’s 2018 turnaround will result in long-term success, and a successful 2019 campaign — following a not-so-great offseason — should help immensely.

Mullen doesn’t have to have 4 and 5 stars…he is prob best in football at developing talent… understand 5 star kids are mostly a nightmare…losing a clue 3 stars just opens up room for some 4 stars in the next 7 months…take a deep breath bitches

@Jonathan Strawder “Mullen doesn’t have to have 4 and 5 stars”. “losing a clue 3 stars just opens up room for some 4 stars” : )

I’ll take the nightmares and you can hold your breath with that “logic”
