Just two days after picking up their 11th commitment of the 2012 recruiting cycle, the Florida Gators made it an even dozen when they learned that four-star linebacker Lorenzo Phillips (Patterson, LA) will call Gainesville, FL home next year.
Ranked as the No. 15 linebacker in the nation and 146th overall player by Rivals, Phillips is a 6’1”, 200 lbs. outside linebacker who also holds offers from Alabama, LSU, Nebraska, Tennessee and Texas A&M, among others.
He is Florida’s highest-ranked linebacker commitment for 2012, with four-star Jeremi Powell (Largo, FL) the only other one currently pledged to the Gators.
Phillips is the second high school football player to commit to Florida this week, joining four-star cornerback Brian Poole (Bradenton, FL).

This guy looks fast as hell. That first punt coverage clip is unreal.
This is by far the most entertaining recruit video I have seen in a while. The clips at 7:00 and 8:50 are hilarious. The only way this guy is not a 5 star has to be that his high school is 3A.
Great news. Lb is a def position of need. You always need good dbs since there are usually at least 4 on the field. Great week on the recruiting front. BOOM!

Looks like he plays the run really well. He will excel in the 3-4 when they use it and want to walk a LB up to the line. I wonder what his coverage skills are like, since none of these highlights show him dropping back. He certainly has the speed to do it. Good pickup for the Gators!

Those clips have to be the most dominating linebacker footage that i have seen. He is lightning fast with good instincts and great technique. HUGE GET!
