Head-to-head in 2015: Florida State 2-1 in three meetings
The Gators and Seminoles are not strangers, particularly in football but most certainly in baseball, too. Florida State is 127-105-1 all-time against Florida on the diamond, though UF understandably holds a 55-47 advantage in Gainesville.
Florida has not added any advantage against its in-state rivals with O’Sullivan at the helm either; his Gators teams are 13-15 against the Noles but do have a 7-1 edge at home.
Furthermore, the 2015 regular-season series belonged to Florida State. UF picked up a 14-8 win in Gainesville back on March 17, but FSU rebounded with a neutral-site 8-3 victory in Jacksonville on March 31 and claimed the series with a 4-3 extra-inning win on April 14 in Tallahassee.
The Gators swept the Noles during the 2012 and 2014 regular seasons, but the teams have not met in the postseason since Florida State knocked Florida out of the 2010 College World Series.
The last time these rivals squared off in Super Regional action was during UF’s CWS Championship Series run in 2005; the Gators outscored the Seminoles 16-6 in two games, sweeping the event.
