For the third time in the last four days, the Florida Gators have added a prospect to their 2015 recruiting class as unranked wide receiver Tristan Payton (Jacksonville, FL) committed to join the program on Monday.

Payton received his Florida offer when he attended Junior Day in Gainesville, FL on Saturday and made his mind up soon afterwards.

The Jacksonville product from First Coast High School is the third player from his city to commit to the Gators this cycle. He joins three-stars defensive back Deontai Williams (Trinity Christian High School) and offensive lineman Tyler Jordan (Bishop Kenny High School) as Florida pledges.

Payton (6-foot-1, 180 pounds), who was recruited by wide receivers coach Joker Phillips, also had offers from Kentucky and UCF with Auburn, Louisville and Ohio State all reportedly showing interest as well.

Aside from Jordan, who committed on Saturday, the Gators also picked up a pledge from three-star WR Deondre Farrier (Orlando, FL) on Friday. Florida’s 2015 class is now at four players, all local in-state prospects.

Payton’s commitment was first reported by InsidetheGators.com‘s Blake Alderman.

Glad we are settling for 3 stars in February. Clearly a grad of the Mack Brown school of recruiting.

A 3 star in the hand is worth more than a 5 star in the bush.

Which is why Texas who probably has/had the biggest recruiting advantage of any school in the country.
Huge football rich state with almost no competition is now on the football level of a Texas Tech and TCU and behind an A&M.

I hate this style of recruiting

Unranked, 3 star. Whats the big rush their not going anywhere. You only have so many scholarships to give. Its not quanity its quality. I’m sure Alabama isnt loading up with B players.

These rankings fluctuate all the time. These players maybe unranked now but end up as 4 stars later on. I dont focus much on the rankings. With the recruiting record so far champ has shown the he can identify talent. So if he feels these kids are Florida quality then bring my support.

Huh? I must have missed all the talent that Muschamp has brought in.
Now if only he could recruit more talent than Georgia Southern

Muschamp strikes again. He’s just underrated and Muschamp was shrewd enough to get him before everyone else realized how good he is. After all, the track record on offense under Muschamp shows what a genius he is at evaluating offensive talent.
