The Florida Gators announced Wednesday that their 2016 spring practice slate will officially begin on Wednesday, March 9, a full week earlier than it did in head coach Jim McElwain‘s inaugural season with the team.

Florida has not announced whether the spring practices will be open to the public, which was not able to attend the workouts in 2015. UF did open select periods of each practice to media members last year.

The Gators’ 15 spring practice dates, as currently scheduled:

Wednesday, March 9
Friday, March 11
Monday, March 14
Wednesday, March 16
Friday, March 18
Monday, March 21
Tuesday, March 22
Wednesday, March 23
Thursday, March 24
Monday, March 28
Wednesday, March 30
Friday, April 1
Monday, April 4
Tuesday, April 5
Friday, April 8 (spring game)

Florida previously announced that its annual spring game, the 2016 Orange & Blue Debut, will be held on Friday, April 8 at 7 p.m., returning to the game to its usual spot during the first week in April but on Friday night for the first time ever.

As the Gators practice, they will often be doing so in the program’s six-month-old $15 million indoor practice facility, which was opened in late August.

Practices will feature 12 freshmen early enrollees, new defensive backs coach Torrian Gray and the reported transition of junior Treon Harris from quarterback to wide receiver.

OnlyGators.com will offer complete coverage of Gators football through the spring.
