It was announced Tuesday that the Florida Gators and UConn Huskies have agreed to a new home-and-home basketball series over the next two years. Florida will travel to UConn next season with the Huskies coming to visit the Gators the following campaign.

This is the second time this decade that the teams have agreed to such a series as they previously played during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons. Florida and UConn actually played twice during the 2013-14 campaign as the programs met in the 2014 Final Four that year.

The Gators are 1-3 all-time against the Huskies with their lone win coming in the 1994 NCAA Tournament; UF has lost the last three meetings between the programs.

UConn has already set the first matchup for Nov. 17, 2019, in Storrs, Connecticut. Florida will host the return game likely in November or December 2020.

In shades of 2014, the teams could end up playing each other twice next season as they are both taking part in the Charleston Classic, an event that also includes Miami, Missouri State, Penn State, Saint Joseph’s, Towson and Xavier. The Gators have already scheduled a road game at Butler and home game against Florida State as other nonconference games as part of the 2019-20 slate.
