The Florida Gators, after suffering an upset at the hands of Arkansas on Tuesday, fell four spots to No. 6 in the USA Today rankings and five spots to No. 7 in the AP poll. Florida lost 114 voting points in the USA Today rankings and was deducted 250 points in the AP poll.

Indiana loses and stays number 1 yet we lose and drop 4 spots….ironic to say the least!

    • Tractorr says:

Indiana lost by two on the road. We got beat down on the road. I know we had an off night and Arkansas had a super on night, but I am still okay with dropping a few spots after a loss like that. Plus we just haven’t played that great of competition. We need to win every game to stay highly ranked.

  2. Joe says:

    Rank below Miami. I’m speechless.

  3. Swell Miguel says:

Is the drop mostly based on the Arkansas loss, or do the voters actually add weight add to the Yeguete injury?

    • I think it’s mostly Arkansas. Some disagree. In my opinion, voters vote based on the previous week and do not look that far ahead.

      • Swell Miguel says:

I assumed as much. They’re really sticking the weak SEC to us. Harsh. Honestly, I couldn’t argue if the ranking were based on Yeguete’s injury. I think he’s vital to a championship run.

So, we’re in the same spot. Fair enough, I guess.

        • Tractorr says:

We looked bad against Arkansas. Pretend you didn’t know anything about Florida basketball this year, and only saw the Arkansas game. Would you think Florida was a top 10 team (let alone #2)? Yep, me neither. We got stomped and we paid for it. If we figure out a way to win the rest of our games we will still probably be a one seed. However, as you pointed out I doubt that will happen with Yeguette out. Hopefully we don’t lose any more than 3 the rest of the season and get a 4 seed or higher.

          • Mr2Bits says:

We did not look bad against Arkansas as much as they looked like they were playing over their heads. We still stuck to our game and their shooting percentage was astronomical and to the point where we put ourselves in too far of a hole.

            • Tractorr says:

I think the part where we looked bad was where they kept trapping us and we couldn’t figure out how to break it. That was what K State did to. If we don’t figure out how to deal with that a pressure D in the tourney will end our post season.

              • Ken (CA) says:

the thrashing of UK tonight will help a lot, and I think when the committee meets that game will hold less meaning as it was without yeguette for the first time. I don’t think it should be as significant as the immediate pollster reaction (this isn’t the BCS, polls are irrelevant, i take little stock in them)

  4. Jake S. says:

Number on far right matters the most.

  5. Gators22 says:

just curious…why all the Hoosier love!

Lowest RPI of any of the top teams, lost at home to same Badger team that Gators blew out, and even struggled with Georgia.

I don’t see Atlanta in their future.

  6. MAR says:

We have played a lot of tough competition. When you look at the top 25, we have played a lot of those teams, and played them well except for KState. Our defense was awful against Arkansas, but that’s ok, a reality check now is good in my opinion. We really need Boynton to find his shot again. He helps in a ok of ways but his shooting is tough to figure out. He used to be a threat from downtown.
