Four-star athlete D’Anfernee McGriff adds to Florida Gators’ big haul on National Signing Day

The Florida Gators closed National Signing Day strong on Wednesday, adding four commitments in a 30-minute stretch, the last of which was four-star athlete D’Anfernee McGriff (Tallahassee, FL).

A talented and versatile prospect, McGriff (6-foot-1, 230 pounds) is rated as the No. 273 overall player in the nation and 21st best running back, according to the 247Sports Composite.

McGriff decommitted from Auburn two days ago in order to commit to Florida. The Gators have been hard after him as of late, hosting him for an official visit on Jan. 23 and pressing for his commitment ever since.

At Tallahassee Leon High School, McGriff did a little of everything on offense. He rushed for 2,025 yards and 29 touchdowns on 189 carries as a junior and combined to catch and run for over 1,000 yards with 14 touchdowns as a senior.

Academics are believed to be an issue with McGriff but with Florida having plenty of space in its recruiting class, the Gators were able to take a chance on him not qualifying. Should that occur, UF would help him find a junior college to play at for two years, looking to bring him back to the program afterward.

McGriff is Florida’s 21st commitment, one-third of which have come on National Signing Day. He is also the fourth offensive playmaker to commit to the Gators this week.

Adam, just wanted to thank you again for the great NSD coverage. I did not receive a payment email receipt for my donation today and wanted to make sure it was received. Thanks again Adam and keep up the good work. Go Gators!

Great coverage and Great recruiting by this staff. In the time that they had. Adam do you think anyone will transfer at the running back position.

  3. Dustin Hilyard says:

I’m hearing Billy Napier as WR coach anyone else hearing the same

  4. Titus says:

McGriff is a beast. In the press conference yesterday Coach Mac sounded like he will be playing McGriff at different positons, which means he could have a small role in the offense immediately.
