Florida basketball ranked No. 2 in top 25 polls

The 14th regular season editions of the 2012-13 USA Today and Associated Press Top 25 Polls were released on Monday with the Indiana Hoosiers (20-2, 8-1 Big Ten) taking over as the new No. 1 and receiving 83 of 96 first-place votes.

The Florida Gators, coming off another pair of dominant league victories, jumped up two spots to No. 2 in both polls. Florida gained 57 voting points in the USA Today rankings and added 116 points in the AP poll. The Gators are one of three Southeastern Conference teams listed in the rankings.

Florida, which received six first-place votes in the USA Today rankings and seven first-place votes in the AP poll, registered its highest regular season rankings in the respective polls since last being No. 1 in the country on Feb. 12, 2007.
