Super Bowl LII is upon us, and with it, we take at which former Florida Gators will be suiting up as they look to earn an opportunity to hold the Lombardi Trophy and earn a ring. And considering Trey Burton played such a massive role in last year’s game, there’s a high standard for this year’s Florida players to reach.

There are four former Gators among the two teams in the Super Bowl this year with offensive lineman Trent Brown and defensive back Duke Dawson on the New England Patriots, while defensive linemen Dante Fowler Jr. and Dominique Easley are on the Los Angeles Rams. Of course, with Easley on injured reserve, only three of the four will be suiting up on Sunday in Atlanta.

Fowler has been the standout this season among those in the Super Bowl as he has taken advantage of a change of scenery since being traded by the Jacksonville Jaguars to the Rams on Oct. 30, 2018. Fowler recorded a sack in the divisional round of the NFL Playoffs and had five tackles plus a half sack in the NFC Championship Game, including a huge quarterback hit in overtime that setup a key interception of Drew Brees.

No matter which team wins Sunday, this will mark the ninth time in 11 seasons that a Florida player will win a Super Bowl ring. It is also the 17th consecutive year that the Gators will have a former player in the game. Overall, UF has 31 Super Bowl rings won by 24 different players over 21 Super Bowls.
