Florida Gators recruiting: JUCO CB Joseph Putu suprisingly flips from Arkansas

With the Florida Gators looking like they were done on 2016 National Signing Day, a late signing came in for the program as three-star JUCO cornerback Joseph Putu (Providence, RI) flipped from his pledge to Arkansas.

Putu (6-foot-2, 195 pounds) just committed to the Razorbacks on Jan. 30, making his flip to the Gators especially interesting. He is also not a highly rated prospect, though Florida obviously believes he can contribute to the program with just two years of eligibility remaining.

Originally a member of the Class of 2014, Putu has spent the last two seasons playing for the North Dakota State College of Science.

Recruited by defensive coordinator Geoff Collins and co-coordinator Randy Shannon, Putu is the Gators’ 25th commitment and fifth defensive back pledge despite never visiting UF campus in Gainesville, Florida.
